Help strengthen public health leadership in Canada
CPHA is seeking volunteers to serve on three of its standing committees. The Board of Directors recently revised the terms of reference for these committees to create more opportunities for member involvement. This call for volunteers reflects CPHA’s commitment to inclusive, member-driven governance and public health leadership.
These committees provide strategic advice and oversight to the Board of Directors and play an important role in advancing CPHA’s mission and values.
We are currently recruiting members for the following committees:
Finance Committee (2 positions)
Provides strategic oversight of CPHA’s finances to ensure fiscal responsibility, sustainability, and transparency. The Committee advises the Board on matters including investment oversight, budget planning, and audit processes.
Note: You do not need to be a CPHA member to serve on this committee if you have a relevant financial background (e.g., CPA designation).
Honorary Awards Committee (2 positions)
Supports the recognition of outstanding contributions to public health by reviewing nominations and recommending award recipients. The Committee ensures the integrity and ongoing relevance of CPHA’s awards program.
Nominating Committee (3 positions)
Helps ensure strong and diverse leadership for CPHA through a fair and transparent Board nominations process. The Committee identifies qualified candidates and supports effective governance renewal.
Eligibility and Commitment
Applicants must be current CPHA members at the time of appointment, except for Finance Committee volunteers with a financial designation or background.
Committees meet virtually 3-4 times per year (1-2 hours per meeting) during business hours. The estimated time commitment is approximately 10 hours per year.

Practicums
We engage post-secondary students for practicums that are supported by their academic institutions or by other institutions or funders that host students in programs related to their academic studies.
Practicums at the Association become available based on our project and program activities or on-going initiatives, and depend on available resources to support students.
These are undertaken on a volunteer basis and must be mutually beneficial and agreed upon by us, the student and their academic institution.
There are no practicum placements at this time.
